Group Study Exchange
The Horsham East Rotary Club had the opportunity of co hosting the team from Rotary District 5010- Eastern Russia/Siberia in early March. Meeting the Russians was an absolute delight.
The team was exceptionally well received in our area and were given a taste of life in the Wimmera which included a day trip to Warracknabeal and also an adventure tour with Lachie and his skillful tour leaders in and around the picturesque Black Ranges.
In other exciting GSE news, Pam Capstick has been selected as the Team Leader for the group going to Rotary District 1480 -Denmark in August this year. Congratulations Pam!!!
International evening
The International evening this year was a little reminder of home for our exchange student – Eric. The menu was filled with traditional Swedish meals and our members all enjoyed a nip or two of Swedish Schnapps’.
Thinking caps were then pulled on for the International Quiz. Swedish related questions were carefully selected by Quiz Master Peter Brown and the quiz was hotly contested by all who participated. All bribes to the judges were quickly turned down after consulting the four way test.
The real highlight of the evening was the surprise visit by the legendary Swedish group ABBA with Club members clapping, swaying and singing along to the group's classic hits.
Orphan Train project
We have had no contact from the Little Lilac Orphanage in Bulgaria during this year. This ongoing project is a legacy of Rtn Rob Marshall and we hope to be able to provide valuable assistance for this worthwhile cause in the near future.
